Richard joined the practice as a partner at its inception in October 2000 and was previously a partner at Simons Muirhead & Burton where his practice was largely fraud based. He has been involved in many large fraud cases and was the firm's supervisor for the now defunct Serious Fraud Panel.

Richard deals with serious financial crime and has experience of all types of fraud including VAT carousel frauds and cases involving allegations of corruption. He successfully defended a solicitor in a case forming part of the "Jubilee Line Extension" prosecution.

His current and most recent cases include a very large benefit fraud, a fraud involving immigrant workers, representing an accountant under suspicion of being involved in money laundering, a fraud by a senior legal executive using the solicitors' client account and a fraud involving a company set up to provide sponsorship for athletes.

Richard has a wealth of experience in serious fraud cases which allows him to supervise fraud cases under the current VHCC Panel. He is able to supervise other firms on the Panel who do not have the requisite experience.

In addition to his fraud work, Richard often deals with more general criminal matters of a complex nature. It is common for him to be acting on rape cases or cases involving indecent images and internet pornography involving images of children.
